Assignment 2- Augmented Reality

Overview

Customizable toppings at your fingertips, wouldn't it be nice to avoid the line at your favourite pizza joint but still see what you're ordering? Well you're in luck, using my new AR technology you can do just that, customize your pizza and order it right to your table.

Description of the application

Using a simple and intuitive UI design, a customer can use their phone to view an intractable AR pizza, they can then choose what toppings they'd like and send the order to the kitchen just like that.

Accessibility and ease are a growing theme in the increasingly tech-centrist food industry, companies like UberEats and DoorDash are increasingly used to get food right to your door. However this technology lacks the ability to actually view the food being ordered beyond maybe an image.

Using this AR technology a customer could open their phone, choose and select variations of toppings and lack-thereof using virtual buttonsand actually see the result before it shows up at their door.

Interaction Design

The user interactions for this application are as simple as pressing a button to add a topping onto a virtual pizza, this interaction is both simple and easy to understand. There are buttons representing specific toppings, a button to reset the pizza and a button to send the order to the business. These interactions are needed to implement the application in it's AR form, without them the user would not be able to change or send the order off.

Technical Development

The interactions in this application can be engaged by pointing the program at this image to bring up the AR components.

Then to interact with the pizza the buttons shown as different toppings can be pressed to add them,

then to either clear the toppings or if you're happy with the order you can send it off you can press reset and send off respectively.

This application used the Vuforia AR plugin in Unity 3D.

Descriptions of 3D Models

Mushroom modeled and textured by me, the texture image was taken from the internet. This model is used as visual indicator they've been added to the pizza, they are also used as a button to be added said pizza.

Pepperoni modeled and textured by me, the texture image was taken from the internet. This model is used as visual indicator they've been added to the pizza, they are also used as a button to be added said pizza.

Pineapple modeled and textured by me, the texture image was taken from the internet. This model is used as visual indicator they've been added to the pizza, they are also used as a button to be added said pizza.
